Translator Helen Loveday read Chinese and later obtained a PhD in Chinese art at Oxford University. She has traveled extensively in China and Central Asia, where she became intrigued particularly by the interactions between the Persian and Chinese worlds. She worked as an independent researcher in Far Eastern art for many years and currently teaches Chinese and Japanese art at Geneva University. She is also the curator at the Baur Foundation, Museum of Far Eastern Art in Geneva. She has translated a number of works, and is the author of the Odyssey guide to Iran.
