Robert Middleton

Dr. Robert Middleton worked for the Aga Khan Foundation as Legal Adviser and Co-ordinator of Tajikistan programmes from 1985 until his retirement in 2003. He initiated the Foundation’s programmes in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and has traveled extensively in central Asia and throughout the Pamirs. His contribution to the historical section of this Guide is based on original source material in several languages, including Russian.

He is currently assisting local and international non-profit organizations in promoting tourism in the region (see his website www.pamirs.org). He lives in Switzerland.
